Radiation Worker II

This 24-hour course is designed for students who are involved in the clean-up of radiologically contaminated waste sites. This course is an introduction to the basic concepts of ionizing radiation and its attending hazards. The course includes the following topics:

  • Properties of Radiation

  • Control Measures

  • Sources of radioactive exposure

  • Health effects of radiation exposure

  • Posting radioactive work areas

  • Personal protective equipment

  • Detection intruments

  • Personal Dosimetry

The class consist of both classroom and hands-on activities.

Graduates must pass a written test with a score of 80% or better. This course provides excellent preparation for laborers who will be working in DOE and NRC facilities.
